MOSCOW (AFX) - Gazprom plans to negotiate higher prices for its gas exports to Poland, as permitted under the terms of its current contract with the country, Gazprom vice president Alexandre Medvedev told Interfax-Europe news agency.
Medvedev said the move is not politically motivated.
Last month, Poland announced it had begun talks with Nordic and Central Asian countries that produce natural gas in a bid to reduce the volume it imports from Russia, whose gas price row with Ukraine has affected supplies around Europe.
According to Interfax reports, Gazprom started price negotiations with Poland's national gas company PGNiG in November, but they have been put on hold while management changes at PGNiG are underway.
