shortage of poultry hits State...

Chicken is normally sold for Rs 60 to Rs 64 per kg, but Monday morning onwards prices have gone up to Rs 70 per kg in the Panjim. Due to outbreak of bird flu in Maharashtra  import of chicken from other states is banned since Sunday night.

With ban, Goa is feeling the shortage of chicken as it hugely depend on its neighbouring states for supply of chicken.

So much so that, on Monday afternoon itself most chicken stores in the city had exhausted their stock of chicken and had to send back customers.

Apparently, only at two shops chicken was available for sale on Monday afternoon but at increased price.
